boo boo juice party

17 February 2009 | house | No Responses

While slacking on this blog, I just realized that I never made an entry about the boo boo juice party we had at the brownout a couple of weeks back. I really only remember about half of it and ended up on my bedroom floor way to early. Oh well, I guess that’s the way these things happen some times. You win some, you lose some, but ultimately you take what you can get.

One of the reason for my early retirement that night may have been the night before. We actually cooked up the boo boo juice then and had a browncast that coincided with it. The exact ingredients escape me, but I do know it consisted of about a case of PBR, rum, vodka, deans red drink, some freeze pops, kool-aid, and a forty ounce of St. Ides to top it off. I may be missing a few things here, but you get the idea.

We also purchased a couple of cases of forties to share with party goers.

All in all, it was a lot of fun. Basically a bunch of white kids trying to get in touch with black history month. Or maybe that was just me. And at the end of the night, no juice was left, the mourning was rough, and big burrito never tasted so good. We definitely have to do this again next year.

sunday social #24 – always be closing

3 November 2008 | blog, digg, google, house, linux, phone, rock show, sunday social | 1 Response

Holy smokes it’s been a while since my last post here and a lot has gone on in my life during these last thirty days. Day by day its getting colder and colder as we carry on towards winter ’08. Before I know it, 2009 will be here and another year of my will be behind me.

This past weekend was halloween and this year I attended a party as a pirate. I was quite proud that I whipped my costume up in about ten minutes. If I had some pictures, I’d show them but to be honest I’ve had some better ones. If I had to do it all over again, I would have traveled south to the fest. I think I’m going to make next year the year and take the plunge. I don’t think rachel would take it with me, so I need to round up a couple others that would appreciate it as much as I would.

One thing I haven’t done in a while is see a good rock and roll show. Don’t get me wrong. I got to see Mustard Plug rock it a few weeks back, but since then its been a little dry. Every time I die is playing this week in Grand Rapids and I would like to attend. As far as I’m concerned that band puts on one hell of a show. But opting out of this doesn’t lead me to a boring weekend. No no. I along with a few other brave souls will be heading up to northern Michigan for one last hurrah before the holiday slash snowy season begins. That’s right, Bear Lake, MI here we come. One final thing to mention is the presidential election is this week. McCain seemed to have given up on the mitten, but only time will tell. It’s going to be an interesting Tuesday night. As for now, Entourage is on and there’s candy to be eaten.

sunday social #23 – why i autumn!

5 October 2008 | house, sunday social | No Responses

Ahh the feelings of autumn and their regret. This time of year makes me a happy man. The change of leaf colors and the goodbye to summer. I have to say this summer was a pretty fun one. I saw some good shows and officially started a band. But that time is over and I look to the future for surprise.

I have been doing a lot of work around my house lately. I learn with a lot on my where here with a little help from those I know. To be honest with you, I dont think I would ever treck down this road again. At least not without getting paid. My back hurts, my mind is frazzled, and I may have turned into an alcoholic. Jennifer Aniston has a nice but.

I hooked up the cable in the basement and there is television in the brown out. Still working on the keno game but my main focus for the next few months will be music. Fetch my vans, I job to do. Let focus on simple sentences.

sunday social #19 – in due time

31 August 2008 | house, life, music, sunday social | No Responses

So this past weekend was an interesting one. No getting out of control, no crazies nights, just very relaxed. I went back to Muskegon on friday and stayed until sunday. I saw the family, played a little golf and did not go tubing. Instead I opted for band practice which was long over due with a drummer. At this point I don’t think we will make the battle of the bands but the attempt for it was exactly what the band needed. We haven’t practiced as full band yet and don’t even have a name let alone a demo recorded. It OK, all in due time. I just like the fact the ball is finally beginning to roll on this one.

The other thing that made this weekend interesting was that I stayed away from the alcohol. Honestly it was a little tough being labor day weekend. Even though it was the perfect day for it, I am somewhat glad I didn’t go on that tube trip. The outcome probably wouldn’t have been good. But for now, its back to the grind at work. Well, and home. I have to finish cutting down the tree in my front yard. Unfortunately, I only have a couple days off until the end of the year, so fun certainly awaits.

I am the lumber jack?

I’ve been slacking on my sunday socials lately. But I do have news from a couple sundays ago. I had a tree that was broken in my front yard and it was time for it to come down. Ron let meĀ  borrow a chainsaw that we could get working. So we brought in some reserves and got a little crazy.

Now I have to wait for the chainsaw to get fixed to clean things up. I got a feeling my neighbors are highly disliking me right now.

magnuson, keith (1947 – 2003)

While watching the red wings game yesterday, I see that chris chelios wears a sticker that’s a tribute to keith magnuson. To be honest, I had no idea this guy died. When I was about eight years old, I met him and stan makita at racquets after a lumberjacks game with my dad. I still have his autograph somewhere. I guess I never knew what kind of impact this guy had on the nhl. I know the impact stan makita had, I mean the dude’s got his own donut shop in chicago. Regardless the impact, just rest in peace my man.

In other news I am very close to finishing my basement bar. I’ve not only become a carpenter in the last month but an upholstery wizard as well. Before I know it the beer will be flowing and drinks will be spilled. Does anyone know where I can get a red flashing siren light?
