Holy christ these people on this wipe swap show are religious. I cant honestly say that I would clean for jesus or that the kids constitution is the best way to raise a child, but who I am to judge. I just hope this chick dont grow up and marry someone as goonie as her father .
I discovered this afternoon that my site just doesnt look completely correct with internet explorer. Actually it looks completely wrong, but thats what I get for not looking at it in IE before rolling it out. Really only the header’s goofy, but I am in the process of fixing it. I am hoping that no one is honestly using IE to surf the internet. But that happens. And if it does, think about changing lanes.
In other news, I think I joined a band. Well, actually kind of start one. After the first rock session this week, I have a good feeling. Its going have soul and it rips. I hope I get some inspiration this weekend after attending the loved ones show this weekend. Oh, and the gaslight anthem is playing as well (shit yeah !!). This new EP of theirs is totally rad to my ears. My only complaint is that its only four songs thus am afraid that I might get sick of it too quickly. I would have an opinion on the new loved ones, but the best buy and no other store in my neck of the woods carries it. I really dont want to make this digital transition but unfortunately its inevitable.

So, its official, I am hitched. Its not that different. It just feels good that everything is over with. Yet, at the same time, its a bit depressing. I was surrounded by a lot of friends and family for longer than I have in a while and then it was right back to work. Oh well, I have the fall to look forward to.
I did come to the realization that I truely need to get my life organized. I have been using the the uncalendar since college and has helped a bit to get my life in line, but not all the way. I figure with the combination of this and some digital tools I can really get down to business. I think i am going to take a page from the book of merlin mann and try out some life hacks. Maybe even read a book about it. But I dont see this happening. Yet, this kind of attitude is a perfect example of why the orginization in my life is the way it it. It time to take some steps.
In other news, I went to the kalamazoo irish fest last weekend and had a great time. Except when I tried to get on Jason’s shoulders and fell into the flower bed and landed on my hand. I havent been able to move my figures very well, thus cant play the guitar. I really hope this wears off by sunday. I need to rock.

11 February 2007 | black history month, guitar, music | No Responses
Damn, two months deep and no entry. I am totally slackin as far as the blog is concerned. Anyway, on to the now…I have moved, I am moved in, and I am not quite settled. None the less, I like where I live and feel a need for creativity as the months press on. I will be giving the lab’s website an update soon, so stay tuned.
news one – I settled with the metal muff for a distortion pedal. I also settled on a new amplifier. I bought a fender roc pro for under $200 dollars. Ultimately, its a great sounding amp that truly can create anything from tight dust to mud-filled flow. I have no idea how else to describe it, so I gave it a whirl.
So, again, I now own I metal muff distortion pedal. I haven’t owned very many distortion pedals, but I must say, this one is pretty good to my ears. Yet, I don’t really play metal music, so it can be a little over the top for me at times. Actually way over the top sometimes. Regardless, It’s rather have too much that not enough.
news two – none more none more black – This doesn’t come as a shock to me because I heard the rumor a long time ago. I guess it just comes as a disappointment. I never got to see them in action. I got into them over the last year and a half which isn’t a lot of time to invest in a band but certainly enough to know how they make you feel. The upside that really has nothing to do this the none more black breakup is Strung Out (the best band on the planet) is in the studio recording new sounds.
News two dash a – I have not recorded any music yet. I have sharpened the two songs I write about and will record them soon. My ultimate goal is to create a band out of this whole thing. I have no official confirmation with anyone yet, but I think I have a drummer and guitar 2 on board. SO I guess this leaves a bass player that wants to be a part of the dopest side project ever.
news three – news years resolutions are going decent. I have managed to grow a beard, but my health kick has seen little action. I bought a jump rope and PLAN to use it. I am going to jump rope to the entire jungleland song. I figure I do this and the rest will come with less effort.
happy black history month

So my current residnece is begin sold and ray and I are on our way out. Looking for a new place, I am thinking how I am going to reinvent the lab. If the place we want to live becomes the new home, the thoughts are endless.
In other news, I am continuing to record music in the lab and have a couple songs wrttien. No words yet, just music. And honestly, they are fairly poor. But you have any start some where.
This leads my to bring up my sound delema. I am looking for a good distortion pedal to create the great sound I am looking for until I can afford a new amplifier. I am looking at either the rat, the turbo rat, or the the bbe crusher. Unfortunately none of the music shops in town carry them so I cannot personally test them out. I am looking for a good, thick crunchy distortoin (marshall like) for under $100. I am open to anyone with suggestions.
I know a new pedal wont get me that far, but somewhere closer that I currently am. If my new residence allows me to play loud music, I may just forgo the pedal and use the money toward a new amplifier. I realize what I have right now just isnt going to cut it if I ever want to play in a band or perform music live.

So last week I was in what most would call a predicament. After I was all hyped up on the mac mini I got, I just realized how much I didnt like the interface. It is wierd. The mouse moves funky and when I exit the terminal, the window doesnt close. I dont know, I just find these things to impead my computing experience. I was thinking its time to sell this thing….I have debts to pay off and as honestly, I can only use one computer at a time.
Then a couple of things happened. First of all, the linux box is gone. Wasnt preparing for that one. I just got the wireless card working and was ready to begin configuring the best gentoo system ever. I tell you what, you tried to be nice and …. anyway. So then I read this article about how you can use your mac mini as a pre-production studio with a $40 piece of hardware. I got to thinking about how I dont play my guitar that much anymore and how fun it was to be in a band. So, I took the mini downstairs, made a purchase from amazon, set up a workspace, and now I am making music.
At this point I have only played with it a couple of time. I recorded one guitar part with GarageBand built-in modern rock guitar effect and it didnt sound too bad. I will update the progress, if I acheive any.
