Boyz in the hood are always hard

14 August 2008 | gang, google | No Responses

It appears that Boyz n the Hood has been on television the last couple of days and I happened to catch a little bit of it. I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things to do after watching a film like this one is catching up on as much trivia about it as I can. The best place I have found for this is the internet movie database. Unless of course its an eighties movie and I usually choose http://www.fast-rewind.com. Then if all else fails, I look to the wikipedia.

Moving on. So I was watching boyz in the hood last night and I found some interesting information. Apparently, a couple of the side kicks in the movie died a young death after the movie release. One actually went to prison for murder and got killed there. But another interesting fast was the filming location of it. As I mentioned before, I was on a mission. According to a post on imdb, its on Cimarron St. between 59th and 60th St. in Los Angeles. They say all of the actors lived on the during the shooting of the film. Interesting tibit I thought.

So on to the good stuff. I did a little looking around with google street view and I think I found what I was looking for.

The Styles’ residence:

Doughboy and Ricky’s house is across the street. Its a different color now and if you notice in the movie, when the kids are little, there is no fence in the yard. Latter years its there. And now its gone.

One question still remains – is Tre’s father’s name really Furious?

The summer has been coming to quite the close. Saw Strike Anywhere last week totally rock the house in east lansing. That singer is a lot shorter in person. But he really makes up for it in his voice. All in all, its always great to see one of your favorite bands’ skills in action.

I have been watching movies lately, especially documentories. I watched this one last week about anti-abortion extremists. Man, these people have lost it. This one dude named paul hill claimed god told him to murder an abortion doctor. Click on his name to see what these crazy people are all about.

I also watched another one about the blood gangs in South Central, LA. It was like one extreme to another. I found this one really intriguing for some reason. I have always got a kick out of the west coast gang life, but I guess this was the first time I have ever seen the real side of it. Pretty neat stuff.

For the future, I am setting up shop in my basement. I am coining it jf labs, and plan to pursue projects down there. Everything from recording music to configuring web servers. The site is not up yet, but will be in a couple of weeks. It will be full of details about my trials and tribulations which if anyone is reading this probably dont care about. As for now, I discovered the whole area is flooded. I dont know if it was because of the rain or my dehumidifier broke, havent found the problem. But, if it was the rain, then the lab is in trouble.

My first plan is to get this site out of beta. A paging system will do.
