This past week Dave and I watched this awesome special on the history channel about 80′s technology. The show had a segment on the US Festival. I have seen several videos over the years that contained footage from this festival, but never know what it was. Regardless, my van halen tip continued, this time more focused on David Lee Roth. They apparently got paid $1.5 million to play this night and diamond dave is drunk as shit. Rick Johnson told me about this performance years ago when we worked together and it was really funny to see the actual footage from it.
As I got digging around you tube for david lee roth interviews, I stumbled across this video. This is a really good song and it has all of the elements of 80′s metal madness….hair, rock climbing, and of course, Steve Vai.

The one thing that always got me about Eddie Valen was the way he held he pick. But then again, everything he did was far from the norm. Including his $130 guitar that changed the world. I don’t know why, but I got on this EVH kick today and can’t get off.

My favorite band released a new record last week and I searched you tube to see if there was a good video to view. In lieu, I came across this video of Steve Perry. I question whether his hair is real or not. I know now where they got the idea for the Joe Dirt character.

Long time, no blog, so here were go. It’s getting into the thick of autumn here in southwest michigan and a lot of things have happened since I last updated this thing. Well, maybe not.
First, over labor day weekend, I got my official second guided tour of Chicago. This time, I rode the train, which was a first for me. Not the am track real deal, but the commuter train from Michigan City. Over the course of the weekend, we went to Kumo’s corner, a blues bar in lincoln park, a german want to be bar, a bar that served forties in brown paper bags, Harry Carreys restaurant, a place called “Happy Village”, and a pizza place owned by the guy from Cheap Trick. Now if that’s not a weekend, I don’t now what is.
And on that saturday, we drank a lot of this:
So the rest of the month was fairly bland until early october. Its then the Gaslight Anthem rolled through town. The loved ones also played, which was sweet because I love that band and I have never got to see them before. The night ended with seeing Frank Turner play at a bar in downtown Grand Rapids. There is a lot of hype around this guy for reasons I can’t quite put my hand on. He’s good, and on epitaph records, but I can’t say I completely see the appeal. Anyway, I did my best to capture the moment.
Last week Kim and Adam got married. It was a great time and I wish them the best. I got to ride the trolley and didn’t spill a drop on my suit. That’s a good in my book.
Unfortunately I haven’t got a around to learning python yet. I wrapped up in creating a site using code igniter. Which it good I guess. I have never had to use a PHP MVC (unless of course you considered drupal one). Oh well, the rest of the year awaits. Strike Anywhere and Strung Out released record last week and they sounds really good to these ears.
