deck the halls

First things first – update on the site. Because of my half-ass, amateur database design, it will be a huge pain to put pagination in this site. The only place it would pertain to is the archive pages, so really its no big deal. I mean, I only post something about every two months, so the length of the archive page wont get that big before I begin development on joef.org 2.0. Which, once the lab’s site comes full circle, and I get bored enough, it should begin. I got some ideas in lingering and an object-oriented approach to boot.

Which leads me to the another thing I want to talk about. Thanks to Ryan Daly hanging out at my house last weekend, I have discovered a new love for google. I never took the plunged into the personalized version, but since last weekend, my web surfing experience has taken a complete turn. These dudes are leading the way with this web 2.0 phenom, and as much as I want to shy away, I just cant.

On to the personlized google page, I log into google one time (as long as you keep your cookies in tact) and every time I type visit the site, I feel like I have the web at my finger tips. Not only do I have my gmail feed, google calender, and weather right there, I can add virtually any other feeds I want. I got the latest headlines from digg, punknews.org, and yes, that’s right, the joef.org as well. Its true, my custom rss feed really does work (at least on google)! Also, on another, the latest version of firefox has this spell checker built in and it does wonders for my illiterate ass.

In other news, we got to test out the deck this past weekend. It was a wonderful experience. Hamburgers, beers, drumsets and good weather. Nothing like hearing beats played at 7 a.m. with the sound reverberating off the state theater wall. You really cant be that for a saturday.

Again, the lab is coming along to. I have recordings in the works. I will have a separate section of the lab’s site dedicated to this. Its gonna be great! I also have my latest linux box (none more laptop) running full swing. So, unfortunately, I no more excuses….
