So ubuntu took the polls in the vote for the best linux distribution of 2006. I personally agree with this choice. The distribution is only two years old and went up against acts like slackware and suse who have been in development since the beginning.
Every experience I have had with ubuntu have been plesent ones. I have installed it on two computers and both times it recogonized all of the hardware, even my wireless adapter. The distro fits on one CD and the installation is simple and quite quick. Its default desktop is gnome which is my favorite. With apt-get used for application and package installation via the network and constant automatic updating, theres not much missing from this OS that any computer user would need.
So I certainly agree with the majority vote and think ubuntu has a bright future. It may even change the way we look at linux. You never know and only time will tell, or maybe it depends on how dedicated the development community is. Even though gentoo continues to top my list, ubuntu is certainly up there. I suppose I should explain gentoo tops my list. In due time, until then.
